DEERING BANJOS

12602 Deering Boston Long Neck five string banjo. This is the extended neck type of banjo pioneered by Pete Seeger. It's customarily tuned to G, with a capo on at the third fret. You can slide the capo back a fret to play in F#, back two frets for F, or take the capo off to play in the key of E! This is a very powerful and versatile instrument for leading group singing. 13164 Deering John Hartford Five String banjo with pop off resonator. The main special feature of this banjo is the Grenadillo tone-ring. Light and loud, this tone-ring can outperform many bronze tone-rings. This banjo also has the Deering pop off resonator for easy conversion from resonator to open-back. This is a top tension bluegrass model with a fairly deep pot. Used, but not abused. The frets are very good., and the Presto tailpiece recently replaced the Kirchner replica shown in the photos. Updated with 5 Star head, wide, padded strap, excellent Travelite case, and new planetary tuners. $1200.00

14452C Beau Brummel 5-string banjo (used, c.1900) twenty-five inch scale length by eleven inch pot, with pretty tension hoop, new Fiberskyn head and hardshell case. According to the late George Michaels, the wooden case was made by a coffin maker in Danville, NH. $800.00
