13392 Hobmer
archtop guitar (used, age unknown) with intonated bridge,
red sunburst finish, cutaway, and gig bag imprinted with the
Hobmer logo. Mr. or Ms. Hobmer may have had some identity issues,
because the Hobmer logo is imprinted on the upper body, the tailpiece,
the pickguard, the truss rod cover, all six of the tuner buttons,
the label inside the body, and (twice) on the peghead. According
to the label, the guitar was manufactured by the Musical Instrument
Research Bureau, and the label also includes a large map of India!
This guitar has X-bracing and bound soundholes. Although this
guitar has never been electrified, it has a removeable output
hole plug, in case you ever decide to go electric. We've set
the guitar up with premium grade flatwound strings, and it is
truly an impressive sounder; plays very easily, also. $549.00 |

12983 Mysterious archtop
electric guitar (used, c.1960s) with peghead decal reading
''Pablo Camille Video nyc usa.'' This is probably an early post-war
Japanese copy of a Gibson 17'' archtop with excellent pickups.
There MAY be some trace of Kalamazoo in the genome, but you'd
have to convince me. Anyway, it's a very good guitar, but the
finish on the face is flaking off, so it won't win any beauty
contests... $856.00

13543 F-5
guitar from the workshop of Bruce Wei in Hanoi. It looks
like a gigantic F-5 mandolin, festooned (and I mean FESTOONED)
with abalone inlay. This monster has to be seen and heard to
be believed! We think it could also be converted to a mandocello.
The appropriately shaped hardshell case is a head turner, too!
I'll quit now, before I run out of exclamation points! $999.00 |
