13894C
Oscar Schmidt Model 85 Lancer solidbody electric autoharp
(used, c. 1980) with what might be the world's largest and most
powerful magnetic pickup built in. This is a 21 bar solid poplar
instrument with a heavy duty hardshell case which is very appropriate
because the instrument itself was made heavy enough so it wouldn't
feed back in very loud situations. Finish is red sunburst, and
shows minor playing wear. $499.00 |
 |
12567 Chromalin
chorded zither (used, c. 1960s-70s) has 24 strings, 15 chords.
Like the obscure ''Guitaro'', that was manufactured by Oscar
Schmidt, the Chromalin is meant to be played in a guitarlike
position. Because it has a resonator, and longer string length
than an autoharp, it has a very full sound for strumming. This
one has its original (somewhat eccentric-looking) chipboard case,
too. We've retrofitted this instrument with the world's longest
magnetic pickup. Rock on in a tumult of eccentricity! $525.00 |
 |
14103 Oscar
Schmidt Limited Edition OS150FCE autoharp with highly polished
flamey sunburst finish, EQ442 active pickup, FT600 fine tuning
system, and OT-1 built in chromatic tuner. This 'harp tunes easily
and accurately, and is breathtakingly LOUD; comes with five year
warranty. List price $639. Our price $499.00 |
|
14231 Oscar Schmidt model 12-A autoharp (used, c.1965) with original ''landlord gray'' finish. This 'harp sounds good, and comes with chiaroscuro hardshell case. We will warrant it for a year. P.S. It comes with tuning wrench, lots of music, and a little wire music stand that plugs into bushings at the edge of the soundboard. $140.00 |
We can furnish copies of The Autoharp Book,
by Becky Blackley, for $19.95, plus $3.95 for Priority Mail,
in the US. This is a fully indexed 256 page paperback, 8 1/2"
X 11", with over 500 photographs and illustrations, including
a color photograph section. Ms. Blackley's encyclopedic work
is far and away the best documentation of autoharp history ever
attempted!

13922 Board Zither (used, 20th century)
reminiscent of the 14th century "strumento di porco," so named
because of a fancied resemblance to the shape of a pig's head.
This instrument has 23 strings and 32 sound holes, and if Beverly
can't figure out how to tune it, we'll be ever so sad... $79.95 |

13821
Lunacharsky Balalaika (used, 1971) made at the old Lunacharsky
Furniture Works in Leningrad. ''Lunies'' are mostly rather basic,
and this is the first high grade instrument we've seen from them.
It has polished lacquer finish and elevated pickguard, plus very
nice soundhole and corner inlays. The traditional gut and steel
stringing gives a powerful, resonant sound quality. The black
denim gig bag is included and has a nice workmanlike appearance.
$275.00 |

is carved from a large billet of cedar, with a spruce top, and
a sound hole on the end of the body below the tailpiece. We don't
know exactly what to call it, but if you do, please tell us.
